Many people might wonder why we have hiking/walking under sports performance. The answer is simple. At BreakThrough, whatever is important to you is important to us. As an avid hiker, walker or backpacker, what most people don’t realize is the agility that is needed on all the various terrains you might find yourself. Whether it is helping you to not step off a curb wrong in the city or preparing to for Mt. Whitney, Half Dome or even and Everest Summit attempt, our sports performance team can help. Hiking and walking transmit forces through your body at 2-3x your body weight with each stride. Add a pack and that goes up even more. Hikers and walkers often experience low back pain, hip pain, knee pain and/or foot and ankle pain (esp. plantar fasciitis). At BreakThrough we take a comprehensive approach and evaluate all related tissues to be sure we are helping you progress as quickly and effectively as possible to help you return the lifestyle you desire.
With our Hiking/Walking Sports Performance program it’s as easy as 1-2-3:
1) We will first learn about you, your current status and goals for the future.
2) We will then perform a thorough evaluation to assess movement patterns, strength, flexibility and agility.
3) We will explain our findings and design a mutually agreeable program which enables you to achieve your goals.
My daughter developed a stress fracture due to over-training and lack of proper guidance. She had to sit out her sophomore season and we were afraid her running career would be over. Her self-confidence was way down and we had serious concerns, but thanks to BreakThrough she is “back on track” and continuously improving her times as well as enjoyment for cross country. Thank you!
