Rectocele is when the wall between the rectum and vagina weakens causing the vaginal wall to bulge. The primary cause of a rectocele is weakness of the pelvic floor. This can create poor bowel expulsion or discomfort in the pelvis. A physical therapist will assess the pelvic floor muscle strength and assist in retraining the muscles to help support the rectum. We will work with you on body mechanics and posture to relieve stress on your pelvis and ensure proper alignment.
Whether you want to avoid surgery or improve the outcome following surgery, we can help. To ensure your comfort and privacy, all Pelvic Floor treatments are held in our Private Treatment Rooms. Please call (408) 736-7600 to schedule an appointment with one of our women’s health and pelvic floor specialists. My daughter developed a stress fracture due to over-training and lack of proper guidance. She had to sit out her sophomore season and we were afraid her running career would be over. Her self-confidence was way down and we had serious concerns, but thanks to BreakThrough she is “back on track” and continuously improving her times as well as enjoyment for cross country. Thank you!
